As we age, our skin changes massively. This is due to the decline in the production of collagen and loss of elasticity. Our facial shape may change, we may experience sagging and more fine lines or wrinkles form. Normally, the area around our eyes begins to show the first signs of ageing and crow’s feet form. We also see the formation of forehead wrinkles, frown lines, smoker’s lines nasolabial folds and marionette lines – amongst other facial wrinkles. You may also notice more lines on your neck area too. The natural ageing process contributes towards these changes, but there are also some external factors that can speed up the ageing process. These include excessive sun exposure, smoking, pollution and an unhealthy diet. Many also report using using medical grade can slow down the ageing process.

Age (sun) spots, dark circles under the eye, dry, dull skin, fine lines, freckles, hand rejuvenation (age spots, loose skin, and lines), melasma, redness and flushing, scars, stretch marks and wrinkles are all treatable with skin resurfacing.

These signs of ageing can contribute towards a tired look with many looking for non-surgical cosmetic treatments that offer a solution. Our aesthetic clinic in Leamington Spa uses the CO2 laser to target these skin imperfections and completely renew the facial skin. The laser also works to give you a tighter, more youthful appearance with a reduction in fine lines. Our treatment is suitable for most skin types and offers excellent cosmetic results after only a few sessions. The laser works to repair damaged skin and is one of our specialist treatments here at Eve Clinics. It stimulates the production of new collagen and elastic fibres in the deeper layers of the skin for better skin quality & tightening.

We use the medical grade device, Smartxide Touch CO2 laser to perform the treatment. The non-surgical skin resurfacing treatment is suitable for the face area, the neck, décolletage and is safe for eye area. You’ll be able to benefit from a smoother, lifted appearance with minimal downtime required or discomfort. Skin resurfacing is a tailored treatment to address even the early signs of ageing. We’ll provide you with noticeable results for improved skin texture and overall skin appearance.

All patients will first attend a face to face medical consultation with our laser specialist. During this, we will take your full medical history, provide a patch test and assess your suitability for the procedure. We will listen to your concerns and treatment goals, whilst providing you with all of the information you need. We’ll also be able to suggest the approximate number of sessions required specific to your concern. A patch test must be carried out to ensure treatment is safe for you and you will be able to benefit from the results.

Once we begin the treatment, a numbing cream will be applied for your comfort. The procedure is mildly painful and feels like elastic bands on the skin when we use lidocaine numbing cream. Your skin may appear a little red following treatment, like sun burn. We’ll provide you with all of the aftercare instructions to ensure the best results.

The procedure itself will take around 20 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated. We need to wait until the anaesthetic cream used has had chance to come into effect, which can take up to 30 minutes. During treatment, collagen and fibroblast production is stimulated and the CO2 laser will intricately remove the thin outer layer of the aged skin. Because the laser sterilises the skin, you will not see any blood and there is a low risk of hypo/hyperpigmentation if the assessment has been carried out correctly. Skin types 1-3 are suitable for Co2 laser skin resurfacing treatment. Skin types 4-6 have an increased risk of hyper-pigmentation and preparation needs to be adapted before and after treatment.

Following the procedure your skin will appear a little red or sore, similar like the sensation of sunburn…but with improved skin afterwards! Typically these effects will subside within the days after treatment. For a couple of days following the procedure you’ll notice very small dark brown dots on the skin where the skin will then heal. The full recovery time can take up to one week and is uncomfortable only in the first couple of days. After that the skin may become itchy and at the end of the recovery process, only visible but not painful or uncomfortable.

We can provide you with some skincare suggestions available at the clinic, to speed up recovery time and improve the results.

The non-surgical skin resurfacing treatment is a great alternative to some surgical procedures. Luckily, our treatment comes at a fraction of the cost and you can avoid lengthy recovery times too.

We only use the very best equipment provided by DEKA. The medical laser company is backed by decades of research and clinical studies. They are very well known for enhanced patient safety and satisfaction.
